We've been there.

We have been in your shoes – on the production floor, in the sales office, engineering department - managing, planning and exporting. The staff at Xport Consultants includes veterans of export compliance programs in Fortune 100 companies, with a combined 25 years of experience. Our strong corporate background combined with our hands-on export compliance experience and regulatory knowledge provides us with a unique perspective to ensure the proper balance between a company’s need to maintain its day-to-day business while at the same time instituting and maintaining an export compliance program.

Our Team

Scott Grossman

Scott Grossman, Xport Consultant Vice President and Senior Consultant, has more than ten years of hands-on experience with developing and implementing export compliance programs. His largest project has been the creation, development and implementation of an export compliance program for a $100 million dollar company with multiple divisions.

Scott  began his career in electronics distribution in 1979. His diverse background includes sales, marketing, logistics and manufacturing. He also has more than ten years’ experience in the semiconductor industry, where he worked in sales, marketing, operations, export compliance and logistics.

When Scott first was tasked with the responsibility of export compliance for his employer, he had little experience or knowledge of the process. He attended many seminars, consulted with attorneys, and spent countless hours researching and learning. It was a challenge to be starting this new program for his company. There were no resources and no structures in place. Scott began developing policies and procedures from the ground up. He learned to take generalized knowledge and apply it to the company’s unique needs. It was difficult to gain the necessary knowledge of complex regulations, processes and procedures, and then to put them into practice without disrupting business, but he found ways to seamlessly integrate them into the existing day-today business.

Today Scott applies that knowledge and experience to benefit Xport Consultants clients, matching up their needs with the appropriate products and services. His special expertise and skill in taking very complex regulations and simplifying them is a welcome approach for our clients. Scott understands the requirements of each company and considers their needs both in the present and future, building the best export compliance program for their specific situation.

Brad D. Chatfield

Brad Chatfield, Xport Consultant’s Program Manager and Consultant, provides our clients with hands-on attention and guidance.

Brad has more than 18 years of international trade and compliance experience, including project management, sales, contract administration, logistics and customer support.
Export compliance experience includes:

• Export Compliance Training – Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and ITAR
• Developing Export Compliance Manuals
• Specialized Agreements (TAA’s, MLA’s)
• Commodity Jurisdictions and Classification Requests
• Export Compliance Audits and Assessments

Brad has extensive education and training in export compliance and holds the following professional certifications:

• Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer
• Certified ITAR Professional

In addition to being a certified trainer for ITAR and Basic Export Compliance, he is a standing member of the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA), and the Society for International Affairs (SIA).

Brad maintains compliance awareness through attending export compliance seminars and conferences, such as the Bureau of Industry and Security, ICPA and SIA, as well as through daily agency updates, and U.S. government export agency discussions and correspondence.

The Founding of Xport Consultants

Xport Consultants is a division of DataLink, which was founded in Phoenix, AZ, in 1999. When we were hired to perform outsourcing services for a major aerospace contractor that required a staff of thirty workers dedicated five days a week, eight hours a day to classify the company’s more than 125,000 products under ITAR and EAR requirements, we found our calling. The success of the project and the client’s enthusiasm prompted our development of a full-fledged export compliance consultation firm, and Xport Consultants was born!
